During a residency in Basel, I discovered a material which adopt to my work; damask bedclothes I found in 'brockenhaus'. Using it as canvas overwriting the woven structure with thin layers of painting or drawing. Damask bedclothes with white in white woven patterns are wide spread in the European context, not so in Japan. But the technique of weaving damask originates in East Asia and came to Damascus in Syria and then to Europe by the Silk Route in Medieval Age. Taking European damask bedclothes transformed into artwork back to Japanese artist is closing one circle in a worldwide of cultural exchanges.
